If you have already seen my original post The Gift of Someone Who Has Everything, then you will know how touching giving this gift is for those who literally have EVERYTHING.
Here is Part 2 of The Gift for Someone Who Has Everything… and that “someone” is my grandmother.
Just a little backstory: my grandma is the strongest human being in the world. She raised 9 kids by herself, and continues to mow her grass, trim her bushes, and do everything by herself. She is quite the independent woman, whom I very much model my life after. Recently, she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer on Father’s Day 2016, and since it was so far advanced, the doctors said they couldn’t do much and that she had a maximum of 3 months to live.
So, instead of living her last few months in a hospital bed doing chemo treatments, she literally said “the hell with it” and lived her life the way she wanted to: being adventurous, mowing her grass, trimming her bushes and visiting those she loved the most… until she couldn’t anymore.
She recently had her birthday at the beginning of August 2016, and was still trucking along. The very next day, she declined rapidly, and was very sick. I knew I wanted to do something very special for her, as she knew her days were coming to an end. Knowing that my husband treasured his “Three Things” video, I decided to reach out to all of her 21 grandchildren, and 8 children (my aunts and uncles), and put together a video about her.
It is safe to say that she was blown away by this video. She realized how special she was, and even got to see ALL of her grandkids for what will be the very last time, as she was transferred to hospice less than 24 hours after this video, and 7 days later, she went to be with God.
Long live the notorious V.M.T.
